Scotland at last!

+JMJ
Feastday of St. Polycarp

Well, I made it to Scotland at long last! i arrived on the 4th and have settled in quite nicely. i live in a flat with six other girls and we all get along pretty well. We each have our own rooms and we share a common area and kitchen. it really is a nice setup. i came over with a friend from my college so it wasn't as tough having to adjust. One of our first tasks here was finding a local Catholic church! We also needed to find out how to get there. My friend Fay made some phone calls and got us a ride with this sweet older Scottish lady. So that's how we've been getting to church every week,

I was also pleased to discover that one of my flatmates is also Catholic, so she has joined us at church. Lent has been progressing very well for me. i decided to stregthen my prayer life in lieu of giving something up. it was something that I needed to do and I figured that Lent is a great time to do that. So now I say morning and evening prayers and try to get the Rosary in every day. It's been working out really well so far and I like the routine that I'm getting into. I'm trying to do little things so that the convent won't be a total shock to me.

Scotland is simply a beautiful country, albeit a cold, rainy and windy one! My freinds and I have taken the oppirtunity to explore a lot of the local castles like Stirling and Doune. I have also bought this Historic Scotland card which allows me free entry into most of the historical sites in Scotland. It's a great deal and well worth it for a history dork like myself! It's only been almost four weeks, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of things. I'm taking Britan :Empire to Europe, Modern European History and Africa in the 19th Century, I like all of my classes and the professors seem nice as well.

I'm hoping to get some traveling in while I'm over here because if not now then when?! My mom is coming over for spring break so we'll hit Edinburgh, Glasgow and some of the other towns. My friends and I are also going to Paris for a week at the end of term. I've been to Paris once with my parents, but I think this will be different because I'm older and i'll be with my girls.

As far a vocation stuff goes, I would loooove to visit the Tyburn convent http://www.tyburnconvent.org.uk/index2.html but not to enter, just to visit. All the vocation things are on hold while I'm abrod, but I would like to visit some places wenn i get back in the summer. I would probably just do local weekend trips like the Sisters of Life, Apostles of the Sacred Heart, Brooklyn Carmelites...Ii would of course love to go back to Nashville, but I don't know if I can this summer. Hopefully next January I will be able to go on the week-long discernment retreat. It would be nice to meet other girls who are discerning witht them.

That's all for now, God Bless and keep you!
