News from the world of Em....

Feastday of St. Syprian

I know I've neglected my poor lil blog but no more! I've started my junior year of college and so far it's been pretty good. I like my classes and profs, so no complaints. I've also finalized my October visit with the Nashville Dominicans! I'm going to see them from the 8th to the 12th and am very excited about it =) It will give me a chance to really see their life and see if this is something for me. Only 28 days!
In the midst of my happiness, there is also pain. My youngest cousin Andrew was diagnosed with A.L.L. leukemia on Monday. It was a hard blow to the family because my uncle Andrew was also diagnosed with cancer when he entered high school and it was the exact same high school cousin Andy was going to enter. Also, my uncle Andrew died of the cancer in 1984. Right now the doctors say the cancer is treatable and it was caught in the early stages. It's times like this that I wish I was closer to them. Right now my college is five hours away from home. So I'm praying for him, that he makes it through and can look back on this in years to come. If you could add him to your prayers, I would be most grateful. Anyway, I have to get back to reading for my ed. class so bye and God Bless!

Soon, a wedding and a retreat

Feastday of Bl. Mother Teresa

So today was my lazy day. I've come home from college for the weekend so that I can attend my friend Sashi's wedding tomorrow! My friend Tina was dog sitting at her neighbor's house last night so we had a sleepover. Good times had by all I can tell ya... Kill Bill 2 and Ben & Jerry's One Sweet Whirrled ice cream....yum! Mass today was a wonderful blessing for me. The Gospel talked about how one must give up EVERYTHING to follow Christ. This really spoke to me because to be a nun is to give up friends, family, personal freedom EVERYTHING! Of course this is not to say a nun's life is heartache and sadness, quite the contrary! As one Nashville Dominican put it "The irony of giving your whole life to God in religious life is that He gives it all back, with interest!" I think that is a great way to think about religious life. Anyway, after Mass I asked my pastor (a Dominican) if he knew of the Nashville Dominicans. He did and he said that they were the best group in the country! Now, that may be the Dominican bias talking but I have heard wonderful things about them. For those that don't know, I will be going on retreat with them in October and I am super psyched! Also, I get to meet Sr. Julie (of www.theoscope.blogspot.com fame) and Sr. Emily. I've talked to both of them over the internet and Emily by phone and they seem like beautiful souls! Even in my excitement, there is frustration because it seems getting to Nashville is trickier that I thought. I booked my tickets and Orbitz.com told me that they didn't have a seat for me on one of the flights and they would have to book it later. So I'm kinda worried I won't have a seat. I trust in God that everything will be okay though, He always comes through for me =)

In more recent events, my friend Sashi is getting married tomorrow! She's an orthodox Jew and going to those weddings are always fun and exciting. We both worked at the same camp and lots of other counselors will be there as well.

Before I go, I just wanted to ask everyone to pray for the Russian schoolchildren that were killed and injured by terrorists yesterday.

The First Post!

Laudate Dominum! (Praise God!)
Feastday of St. Gregory the Great and St. Phoebe (among many others)

Hi everyone in blogland! I decided to start this blog in order to share my discernment with the world. Currently I am a 19 year old college junior, majoring in history and double minoring in art history and secondary education with certification. Yea...I didn't think college was hard enough so I had to pick the craziest combo of minors plus teacher certification! Hopefully I will survive it all and God will show me His plan for me =)

A side note on the name "Thy Holy Love" After Blogger rejected various other titles, I came up with that one. Now thinking about it, it really does fit this blog. After all, it is His Holy Love that is leading me towards religious life!

That's all for now folks!
